1. LEGO Star Wars pop-up event
Lego Group celebrates its 25th anniversary of LEGO Star Wars with a pop-up event. Look out for statues of fan-favorite characters such as Stormtroopers and Darth Vader. Snap a picture at the Create Your Own Poster booth, and watch yourself become a LEGO Star Wars minifigure. There will also be a LEGO diorama, where fans can guess the number of LEGO lightsabers for a chance to win attractive prizes!
2. Get tickets to CMSG Opening Weekend Carnival
There’s a new exhibition at CMSG centered on hawker culture next weekend, but you may want to secure your spot now! Developed with input from children, the Into The Hawkerverse exhibition aims to deepen children’s understanding and appreciation of our local hawker culture, an important aspect of Singapore’s food heritage and way of life, through multi-sensory exploration and object-based learning.
3. Singapore International Festival of Arts
The Singapore International Festival of Arts is happening this weekend onwards! Highlights include the spectacular Moby Dick with 50 puppets and live music and The Dancer’s Fair, where a 5-meter-tall ballerina and an old-school fairground made of discarded objects await in the middle of Cathay Green.
4. Be one of the first to visit KidZania
KidZania Singapore opens to the public on 16 May! This miniature kids’ city has streets, an A&E, a police station, a fire station, a dentist, a hospital, a bank, a radio station, and a department store. Offering many kids’ role-playing activities that mimic adult jobs, this is a unique, interactive learning experience spread out over two huge floors of indoor air-con space. 5. Take your child to PCF Sparkletot’s Parenting Conference
Looking for a fun way to bond with your child? Head over to PCF Sparkletot’s Parenting Conference at Changi Experience Studio! Choose from an array of 16 engaging parent-child workshops such as robotics, music, art, and storytelling. Moreover, be inspired by keynote speakers Joanne Peh, founder of The Dimple Loft, and Professor Tan Oon Seng from NIE, as they share invaluable parenting tips. Kids will love the craft activities such as pressed flower bookmark making, LED light crafts, and treats such as popcorn!
6. SGP: Dare To Be Different Exhibition (FREE!)
The F1 Grand Prix in Singapore might not be gearing up until September, but car enthusiasts can get their engines revved with a new event: the SGP: Dare To Be Different exhibition. Housed at the new Gallery 26 in Dempsey, this is where you can browse signed race gear by some of your favourite drivers, relive snapshots of the best race moments, come up close with pieces of the actual racetrack, check out the livery and more. Admission to the F1 exhibition is free.
7. Kids’ workshops at Great World (*FREE!)
Take the kids to Great World this weekend for exciting activities and workshops, new kids’ stores, and amazing deals! We’re always looking for air-conditioned places to take the kids in this heat. Great World is one of our favorite kid-friendly malls with its free playground, great stores, and its newly launched kids’ activities on the weekends! *Spend $50 in the mall and redeem kids’ workshops.
8. Borealis Northern Lights at Supertree Grove (FREE!)
Check out the new outdoor installation at Gardens by the Bay! Borealis is a free immersive light and sound installation at Supertree Grove created by Switzerland-based artist Dan Ache. Using layers of light and cloud particles, the magical splendour of the Northern Lights is recreated. Admire the sights as a soundtrack by French composer Guillaume Desbois plays in the background. Borealis happens on Mondays and the weekend only (timing below) and is in addition to the Garden Rhapsody light and sound show, where the lights on the Supertrees dance to a changing musical soundtrack that takes place daily at 7.45pm and 8.45pm.
9. Bluey & Bingo meet & greets (FREE!)
Get ready for tail-wagging excitement because Bluey and Bingo are gearing up for meet-and-greets at several Kiddy Palace outlets across Singapore. Each meet-and-greet session will last for 30 minutes. It’s the perfect opportunity for your little ones to stop by and say hi to the beloved characters of this hit animated series Bluey!
