Introduction

Looking for a fun-filled day to beat the heat? Head over to Kallang Wave Mall’s Water Park for an exciting aquatic adventure! This vibrant water park offers a variety of attractions and activities that cater to all ages, making it the perfect destination for families, friends, and water enthusiasts alike.

Since returning to Singapore from Chicago with my 16-month-old troublemaker, Elliott, one thing we’ve been trying to get used to is the unseasonably warm weather. With that in mind, we’ve been on the lookout for outdoor water parks in Singapore where Elliott and I can cool off but still have a fun day out while we’re at it.

It’s called Splash-N-Surf, and boy did we do just that! There are a variety of recreational outdoor activities perfect for all ages, from exhilarating wave riding lessons for the older kids to a wide water play area and kiddy pool for the little ones. If you’re feeling lazy and simply want to catch a breath, there’s a winding river for you to float your stress away.

Water Play Area & Kids Pool

The Water Play Area was perfect for Elliott and me to spend some quality time exploring, so naturally we started our journey there.

It was a little more than an ordinary playground, complete with plenty of H20 to combat the heat!

Kids were running amok whimsical structures like coconut trees and mushroom cap showers. Climb up the fort, throw in some water guns and you could have a good old-fashioned kiddy standoff!

Elliott spent a good few minutes mesmerized and giggling by the sprouting windmill fountains. Seems like water puts him in a good mood! Luckily we brought a spare change of clothes for both of us as the water spins very far off.

But hey, a little water never hurt anybody.

Slide down bright orange water pipes and meet new friends at the end! Elliott’s still scared of slides, so he became the unofficial ‘welcoming committee’.

We wanted to take a dip in the Kids Pool with the hanging bucket swings but I couldn’t risk getting my camera wet. While there are plenty of lifeguards on duty, kids under three years should still be closely supervised. Maybe another time.

One thing to note, it can get pretty hot, especially in the afternoon, so slap on some sunblock for both your kid and you. You wouldn’t want to go home looking like a pair of tomatoes!

All in all, there’s something for everyone, and best of all, it’s absolutely free!

Free. Opening hours: 8 am – 10 pm daily. Attire: Swimwear. Suitable for children aged 3 to 12 years.

Stingray®

The park’s most popular attraction is the half-pipe where families, youth, and surfing enthusiasts can bodyboard and skimboard on the Stingray®.

Unfortunately, shorty Elliott didn’t meet the height limit (1.2m) so we could only watch the action from afar. We did manage to chat up one of the instructors who gave us the low down on how it works.

They even have “Stingray clinics” available for booking to get your kids started — Junior Surf Clinics for the young children and for the older ones, the Youth Surf Clinic. Your kids will be able to ride the wave like a pro in no time!

Definitely keeping this in mind when Elliott sprouts up.

Apparently, adults can get in on the fun too! They have a Parent & Child Surf Clinic where you can pick up a move or two for those future family surfing trips.

Adult Surf Clinics are also available for the young and adventurous at heart. I’m not the sportiest of mothers but if I can get a sitter to watch Elliott I may just give this a go!

From $35/hr (weekday non-peak hours: 8 am – 6 pm). Opening hours: 8 am – 10 pm daily. Attire: Swimwear, rashguard (provided), helmet (provided). Children under 1.2 m tall are not permitted on the Stingray®. Patrons must complete a User Agreement and Disclaimer and attend a safety induction prior to the Activity.

Lazy River

After a long day running around under the sweltering sun, the Lazy River was a godsend. We hopped on one of the double floats and slinked the afternoon away. In fact, it was so relaxing that Elliott dozed off for a little while, so I had to watch him closely. We didn’t manage to get any photos but it ended the day perfectly, all for the price of $2.

$2 per day, unlimited usage. Opening hours: 8 am – 10 pm daily. Attire: swimwear. Children under 11 years and under 1.2 m tall must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

We were ready to head home, but I decided to have a quick lunch and dry out inside Kallang Wave Mall.

Elliott had a whole sundae to himself, and dozed off again just in time for his afternoon nap, allowing me to eat in peace (something I don’t get a lot these days). All in all, it was a fun and memorable day out for both Elliott and I. We’ll definitely be back for round two!
