On 13 September 2014, the Families for Life (FFL) Council launched the inaugural Families for Life Celebrations at the Singapore Sports Hub. Families from all walks of life were invited to join in the festivities at the two-day carnival, which featured a wide array of activities for the whole family, including kayaking, movie screenings and interactive game booths. The theme of the Celebrations for this year was “Family Time. Precious Time”.
Through a poll conducted by FFL, it has been shown that Singaporeans desire to spend more time with their families and were willing to give up lifestyle choices like watching television and surfing the internet in exchange for more time with their loved ones. More than 2,500 Singaporeans have come together to make a commitment to their self and their families to spend more quality time together. FFL is fully committed to promoting this movement by providing a myriad of simple but meaningful activities that families can participate in through the year.
Gracing the event, Minister for Social and Family Development Chan Chun Sing said, “Family gives meaning and purpose to our lives. The fond memories, unconditional love, care and support in times of need are unique ways through which family brings us happiness. Spending quality family time helps build mutual understanding and strengthen our bonds. Let’s cherish every moment with them.”
