When is Baby is 6 to 9 Months

 

 

Ingredients:

  • 2 Tbsp of white rice/ brown rice
  • 1½ - 2 cups of boiled water (slightly more water if brown rice is used)
  • 2 Tbsp of pumpkin, cut into 1cm cubes
  • 3 – 4 florets of broccoli (chopped)
  • 30g salmon (cut into bite size)

 

Method

  1. Wash the rice, then add water.
  2. Add other ingredients to the rice.
  3. Boil on high, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. Lower the heat when the porridge is bubbling.
  4. Simmer for an hour or until desired consistency. If the water dries up, you may add more water.

When Baby is 9 to 12 Months

 

 

Ingredients:

  • 50g Chicken
  • 200g Potatoes, peeled
  • 150ml Breast milk or formula milk
  • ½ Tbsp baby rice cereal (or plain flour)
  • 50g mild cheddar cheese, grated

 

Method

  1. Boil or steam the potato and mash. Divide into half
  2. Poach the chicken in milk and cook thoroughly.
  3. Remove the chicken and stir in rice cereal/ plain flour. Heat until milk thickens.
  4. Stir in 30g of cheddar cheese and remove from heat
  5. Mix half of the mashed potato with chicken and “white sauce”. Lay into a baking dish.
  6. Top with remaining mash potato followed by remaining cheese.
  7. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 180C for 25 to 30 minutes with a golden-brown crust
  8. You can add broccoli, carrots and/or corn for more variety.

When Baby is 12 to 18 Months

 

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp Cream cheese
  • ½ piece Tortilla wrap
  • 1/3 of a small apple, cut into thin slices or pieces
  • 2 tsp Sultanas
  • A sprinkling of cinnamon

 

Method

  1. Spread cream cheese across a plain tortilla before filling it with softened apple pieces, sultanas and cinnamon on it.
  2. Press in a warm sandwich maker and let your child enjoy the snack.

When Baby is Older than 18 Months

 

 

Ingredients

  • 1 chicken fillet (skin removed chopped)
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 1 clove garlic (chopped)
  • 1 carrot (chopped)
  • 1 potato (cooked and roughly chopped)
  • 100g pumpkin (cooked and chopped)
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 Tablespoons oil

 

Method

  1. Mix the ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Form into desired shape using hand or mould.
  3. Bake in preheated oven at 200C for 15 minutes or until the golden brown colour on both sides
  4. Maybe be given with a piece of bread roll or slice bread (and eaten like a burger or sandwich).
